Computers in the Workplace
The industry I chose to discuss is healthcare. Throughout the years we have seen not only growth and innovation in the technological world but also in health care. We have come a long way in how we care for patients, and I believe that it would not have been possible without the technology that we have developed. I do not have experience working in the healthcare industry, but like most people, I have been to the doctor and have seen the many updates that have taken place as I’ve gotten older. It seems nowadays hospitals use technology for almost every procedure. From x-ray machines to robotic arms that help with surgeries, to using computers to log patient information, technology is everywhere. It is important that employees in the healthcare system are computer literate because they use a computer for data entry, to keep track of patient medication, and to have access to electronic health records. Medical billing and coding and setting up patient appointments are mostly done through the computer as well. Over the years, operating systems have evolved rapidly and drastically to accommodate evolving consumer demands – from making computing faster and more efficient, to delivering scalable and secure platforms for a rapidly digitizing world. I believe that the more technology evolves, the more the healthcare and medical industries will need to grow as well. Because without evolved technology, we would not have the advancements in medicine that we do today. In the next 10 years, if we continue to advance at the pace that we are, I believe we can find more ways to cure diseases or figure out how to make surgeries less invasive.
